Memory Alpha

The Son'a are a part of the Ba'Ku population, which had left their idylic planet in the Briar Patch some centuries ago. They are highly advanced beings, capable of building huge and powerfull warships. We know that they have invaded and subjugated the Tarlacs and the Elorians, and that they are using them as workers and soldiers, in order to make the Son'a a "great" power in this sector of the galaxy. Their vessels are fitted with illegal isolytic weapons, which were outlawed by the Second Khitomer Accord. These devices generate a subspace tear that is attracted to an enemey vessel's warp core. Subspace weapons were banned because they were so unpredictable, and there is no single tactic that is guaranteed to counter them. We don't know the exact population of Son'a in the galaxy. Some Son'a seem to be obsses by fighting against the ageing. These Son'a would like to recover their former state of "immortal" beings as Ba'Ku.

The Son'a have become desperate to extend their lifespans by any means possible. Son'a medics resort to genetic manipulation and surgical techniques to preserve their bodies. The Son'a make regular visits to "body enhancement facilities," where their skin is stretched tight, and dangerous toxins are removed from their bodies.

During the Dominion war the Son'a were contacted by the Federation when it was discovered that the Son'a were able to made a working Ketracel White. Shortly after the end of the war the Federation discovered the Ba'Ku, and some Son'a tried, with the help of some StarFleet elements to secretly move the ba'ku to an another planet in order to collect the metaphasic radiations particuls that surrond the planet.
