To celebrate the recently released Star Trek: Into Darkness Blu-Ray and DVD, the cast and crew partied in an appropriately space-centric location: on a red carpet beneath the wings of the Space Shuttle Endeavor.
Guests included director J.J. Abrams, stars Leonard Nimoy, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Alice Eve, as well as celebrity “Trek” fans including Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Bar Paly (Pain & Gain) and Gabby Douglas (Gymnast, Olympic Champion).

Series veteran John Byrne is returning to the Star Trek fold with the release of an extra-length Star Trek Annual, set to arrive this december from IDW. By using a uniquely constructed series of photos, Byrne has essentially created an entirely new story that plays out like something of a lost episode. This "photonovel" will be titled "Strange New Worlds" and will serve as a direct sequel to "Where No Man Has Gone Before," the third episode of the original series' first season, and a fan favorite.

Great news for Trek fans -- this year's film, Star Trek Into Darkness is going to release on Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3, DVD and On Demand on September 10. However, if you want to get your hands on the film three works early, you can buy a digital copy on August 20th.
"I'm excited for viewers at home to check out Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-ray and DVD," said JJ Abrams. "They did a great job and I'm thrilled with how everything looks and sounds. We also have some really fun behind-the-scenes special features that we shot on the Red and created entirely in-house at Bad Robot. They really look amazing and unlike anything I've seen on DVD or Blu-ray before."
